For the past two decades, our amazing team has been all about crafting custom cakes for special occasions like weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, and graduations. But that's not all - we also have a variety of yummy bite-sized treats, from chocolate candies to delightful confections. Our talented bakers and pastry chefs pour their heart into making sure each treat is simply delightful. Our love for creating delicious desserts and local treats has made us a hit with our Maui customers.
In February 2023, our parent company Happie Happie Joie Joie Creations LLC expanded its operations by opening Paukūkalo Sweets and Treats in Wailuku, Maui. Located in the charming neighborhood of Paukūkalo on Waiehu Beach Road, our new location is housed in a building that was once home to the famous Paukūkalo Store (est. 1989). This beloved establishment was known for its delicious Paku Burgers, and we are thrilled to bring this local favorite back to our community.
With the opening of Paukūkalo Sweets and Treats, we have expanded beyond our custom cakes and fresh-baked malasadas to offer a selection of local favorites. We aim to serve and provide for our local community and share true aloha and island flavors with our island visitors. Aloha! I’m Jocelyn Kanaele, a Hawaiian culinary virtuoso with a pastry palette as rich as my island heritage. My love for baking was kindled at the tender age of 12, amidst the fragrant aromas of my mother’s and aunt’s kitchen creations. They were the heart of every party, and I was their eager apprentice, captivated by the magic of flavors they conjured without a single measure.
Growing up in the remote tranquility of Haiku, life was simple but full of warmth. My parents, the epitome of hard work and dedication, ensured that our table was never without sustenance. Their resilience and resourcefulness in providing for me and my siblings left a lasting impression on me. It was in this nurturing environment that I learned the most valuable lesson: the essence of great culinary art is not just in the taste, but in the love and care infused into every dish.
This early exposure to the wonders of baking propelled me to pursue a formal education in Culinary Pastry Arts. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of learning from numerous esteemed pastry chefs at renowned establishments, including a formative 9-year tenure at the Four Seasons Resort Wailea. Each mentor imparted wisdom that I’ve meticulously melded into my own unique style.
Today, with over 30 years of experience, I stand proud as a female entrepreneur, weaving the threads of my Hawaiian roots into every creation. My journey from a wide-eyed child in awe of her mother’s kitchen prowess to a seasoned professional is a testament to the power of passion and perseverance.
